Dear Player and Parents,
I have attached the info for UVU Team camp Please look over the teams listed below if you see a mistake (not on a list, or not going please contact me. You need to pay your fee.... I will have the school put in back up on www.myschoolfees.com Give me a day for that. LOOK FOR UVU CAMP $125 Camp runs Tuesday through Saturday. We are still on mandatory moratorium on Monday the 11th. Camp has run Monday through Friday in the past so I didn't realize it was different this year. Please let me know if you can't make Saturday. We have one team in the Varsity Division and two teams in the JV Division. Please Please understand what this camp is about.... Our goal as coaches is to get to know you, the player better. We have had only two open gyms and conditioning workouts. We have tried to fit the players onto teams by grade, position and ability. It is about working hard and getting touches. You may end up being one of the better players on a team. That is fantastic! Go for it! Show us you are a leader. Make others around you better, Be a good teammate. I can tell if you are a good player even if you are not on the team you want to be on. We can have girls sit with other teams if schedule permits. The following week we have skills camp we will be able to watch you play more and see you there as well. So please don't read anything more into camp and the team you are assigned except that we are playing games and trying to get touches on a ball. Also you need to know that team camp is available to as many players we could accommodate. Just because you attend team camp does not guarantee you a spot on the high school team. You are paying for this experience. We will coach you and teach you things. Go Falcons! Coach Meyer GO TO THIS LINE AND REGISTER WITH THE CODE NEXT TO YOUR NAME. Spring is HERE, and with that we would like to "kickoff" the inaugural season of the Utah High School Girls Sand Volleyball League. This league will be ran under the direction of Clint Barnes (AAU Sand Volleyball Director). All play will take place on Thursday afternoons (4:00pm-dark). The season will run from May 5th - June 2. For the first year the plan is to start with six schools per division (north, central and south). Each school is allowed to have 8 players only, 4 teams of 2. Format will be similar to the NCAA. Each school will play two matches a night. Cost is ONLY $30 per player/$60 per team for the ENTIRE SEASON! Most beach programs do not have coaches as it is ran primarily by the players themselves, so you would not be expected to be there, just get your teams organized and registered!
Aces Athletics will be donating their courts for players to practice and play during the months of April and May. Players must be registered with the league and have a signed Aces Athletics liability wavier. Please help support this league and register your teams ASAP!! (Deadline April 20) This is a VERYinexpensive way to bring your high school players together to have FUN and INCREASE their skills! Let me know ASAP if you are interested so I can get in as many teams as you can. Find a partner and lets get Started! Why play beach? More touches on the ball, every player must learn all aspects of the game, players become better at defense, players learn how to read the ball better, ball control is dramatically increased, players stamina is greatly increased, improve critical thinking skills, most importantly it’s a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Here is a great article from USA volleyball on the benefits of sand. http://www.gcva.net/news-detail/outdoor-volleyball_why-play-beach-volleyball Beach volleyball is the fastest growing NCAA sport in the United States. Currently there are beach high school programs in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and California. Our goal is to start a program here in Utah, that will give our athletes the opportunity to be seen by college coaches. Next year, the University of Utah will start sand, with more schools to follow. Currently there are sixty plus colleges and universities that are offering scholarships in beach volleyball. We hope you will HELP organize players that would be interested in playing beach and representing their High School. More info can be found at utahvolleyball.net . CONTACT: Clint Barnes ASAP - as space is limited. Together we want to help players be the BEST they can be and create more opportunities for them to compete, have fun and offer endless opportunities at an EXTREMELY LOW PRICE! ATTACHED IS A FLYER TO HAND OUT AND SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR PLAYERS AND ATHLETES INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE! Thank you so much for YOUR SUPPORT IN KICKING OFF THIS GREAT EVENT! Happy February!
By now you all should of registered with Skyridge. It is becoming more real each day. Pretty soon we will all be able to get together and play the sport we love. Before that happens we are going to have an OFFICIAL PLAYER PARENT MEETING: THIS MONDAY THE 22nd AT 5:00 PM IN THE LEHI JR. CAFETERIA. We will be discussing:
Coach M. Dear Falcons!
Did you know... Falcons are LOYAL..... they mate for life and breed in the same territory each year. They are TEAM PLAYERS,....both the male and female work together to incubate the eggs for about one month. The chicks start to fly in about 42 days, but are still dependent on their parents to learn how to hunt. Falcons are veryTERRITORIAL during breeding season and will vigorously DEFEND their nests. I hope you all had a nice break and a great Holiday. The Meyer family was able to see "STAR WARS" May the Force be With you throughout the coming year..... The girls did some sledding, built an awesome snow fort, playing with their cousins from San Diego who were in "Cold" shock Is was great to be able to catch up on my shows with netflix and be with family and take a break from the hustle and bustle. We did have our share of Indoor Soccer games for my 8 year old she is a goalie. Volleyball practices for my 12 year old. I always enjoy watching my girls play the sports they love. In regards to the volleyball program I am currently working on next year. I am developing an operations manual for Skyridge Volleyball, working on the tournaments we will be hosting for Varsity and JV/Sophmore as well as planning our summer camps. You have all probably heard about the 9th grade attending at Skyridge and Lehi Jr. just being 7th and 8th grade allowing the students on Traverse Mountain to attend Lehi Jr. I will keep you posted as I learn more information. If you haven't checked out our FACEBOOK page you should. I post motivational and informative information. Please login to facebook and like our page https://www.facebook.com/Skyridge-Volleyball-521577141348980/ Hope you have a great New Year! 2016 is going to be an amazing year with the start of Skyridge and an epic first year of volleyball. Here is an article for "making new year resolutions" I find it applies to volleyball really well. My dear friend Grayson Dubose of USU Volleyball shared this with me last year. I use it in my teaching as also in my coaching. It is well worth the read. The Link is below or I have pasted it as well.
